Description

This is a great way for students to learn fundamentals of programming and robotics engineering with LEGO’s programmable EV3 or Spike Prime robotics systems, using motors, sensors and Mindstorms coding software. Students can work alone or in pairs. Once students accomplish required tasks and simpler challenges, they can choose from higher level challenges or build a more complex robot of their own design or one provided by the instructors. Students will have the 2024 FIRST LEGO League challenge field to solve missions, experiment with their own robot design ideas and develop their programming skills. This topic is especially good for students wanting to gain skills for a FIRST LEGO League (FLL) or FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team.

LEGO descriptions:

  • MINDSTORMS EV3 lets kids learn more advanced skills and prepares them for the future through complex coding and real-life modelling. The EV3 Intelligent Brick uses a screen with an interactive menu.
  • SPIKE Prime replaced MINDSTORMS EV3 and builds on the skills developed with MINDSTORMS EV3 and offers a more complex coding system using Icon Blocks, Word Blocks and Python coding. The SPIKE Prime hub comes with an improved 6x6 display matrix and 6 ports to connect sensors and motors.
