Description

Learn the basics of simple circuits, and soldering electrical components like resistors, capacitors and LED lights onto circuit boards and see them work. Learn to design and test circuits using free software.

Circuit boards are the heart of every electronic device we encounter. In this class, you will learn about every step of the process, from design to prototyping to fabrication. Learn the basics of simple circuits, and soldering electrical components like resistors, capacitors and LED lights onto circuit boards and see them work. Learn the simple equations and math that are the basis of electricity and circuits. Learn to use the free software TinkerCAD for designing and testing of simple electrical circuits, and Flux, a new and powerful professional-grade design software being developed with the aid of two long-time Robotics And Beyond alumni. Students will also work with a breadboard to make circuits without soldering and learn to solder using commercially produced boards designed by former Robotics And Beyond students and mentors who went onto design iPhones at Apple.

Also available: Students can arrange to bring their own electronic projects to work on and have assistance as needed.
