Registration for this schedule starts on 02/20/2026 and ends on 07/06/2026
Participants must be entering grades 3 to 5.
Campers will learn important fundamental concepts of coding and software engineering, and robotics, by creating video games and simulations with Scratch and Code.org, and creating animated drawings in Python, and seeing their coding work demonstrated with actual robots performing simple movements and challenges.
No keyboard skills necessary! Keyboard skills are not needed but students will frequently use a mouse or track pad. Our goal is to provide the familiarity and understanding needed to begin using block-coding languages as used in Scratch and activities at Code.org and an introduction to scripted language like Python. Students will engage with screen-based activities, and also unplugged (screen-free) activities to learn concepts like the binary basis of how computers operate (ones and zeros). We use the online resources Code.org and Scratch to gain coding skills while playing and creating games. Students will also create accounts that will save their progress and projects, and work on them from anywhere from a computer or a phone or tablet. Robotics will be taught using LEGO EV3 and/or Dash robotics systems.
